On the run

In her voice, I sense the fears
of belonging nowhere else
In her eyes, I see the tears
lying trapped behind the fence

I see her talking, to the sparrows,
always being on the run,
a life wasted, in the shadows,
dreaming how bright is the sun

In the morning, I see the world
a world she might never see,
while she’s freezing, in the cold,
scared of drowning in the sea

Tired, she gets no peace of mind,
between the bombs, bees that flee the hive,
home and family, she left it all behind,
she doesn’t know, who’s still alive

I see a spark, in her eyes,
she says “I will never quit,
there ain’t borders in the skies,
maybe this is where we’ll meet“
