Memories

I tried to set the memories on fire,
but they dove deep into the sea,
they wore the darkest blue attire,
how can you destroy what you cannot see?

I tried the proper vessel to find,
all the memories inside to keep,
But no door could hold them behind,
no cage was so strong, no well was so deep.

I tried to use a pen and words,
inside a piece of paper the memories to seal,
but they became roaring swords,
a burning flame you can’t conceal.

I tried to block the memories away,
but they keep sneaking into my dreams,
low voices that whisper in the day,
in the night they grow to screams.

I tried the memories by any means to fight,
but they grew stronger, on my tears they fed,
I thought If I could kill them it would be alright,
but all I was killing was me instead.
