The weight of your decisions

Like a tale without a fairy,
the actions that shaped your fate,
like a cross you can no longer carry,
your decisions’ unbearable weight.

For the words that have been spoken too early,
for the ones that have never been told,
for the dreams that became too blurry,
for the promises you didn’t hold.

For the vows that you shouldn’t have broken,
for the ones you were too scared to take,
for each regret that keeps you awoken,
for every loss and for every mistake.

For the tears that could fill an ocean,
for the ones that got dry before they begin,
for a graveyard full of buried devotion,
where even the saints started to sin.

For the hearts you ripped off the body,
for the bodies you didn’t respect,
for the times you became “nobody”,
for the souls you didn’t protect.

For the feelings you hid in the shadows,
for the ones that you blinded with light,
when you withered the crying rose,
for the times you gave up without a fight.

For the people you shouldn’t have trusted,
for the trust that you cruelly betrayed,
for the moments you wish they had lasted,
if you weren’t so fooly afraid.

For the roads that you didn’t travel,
from the ones that you didn’t return,
to the times you slipped on the gravel,
when you went straight and missed the turn.

For the time that you shouldn’t have wasted,
for a love that you didn’t deserve,
the forbidden fruit you shouldn’t have tasted,
now the sentence forever you serve.
